Student policies and procedures
ID Cards
Students must have their student ID card with them at all times. If a student loses their ID card, they may get a replacement in the main office. Replacement cost: $5
The ID card will be used for lunch, library, computer lab, dances, and identity.
Bicycles/Skateboards
Bicycle safety and security is a problem at and near the school. Students who ride their bicycle to school should have them licensed by the city, place them in the designated area, use a heavy duty lock to secure them and be sure to wear a helmet. It is a law for minors to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle. For safety reasons, students are not to ride their bicycle on campus. We do our best to monitor bicycles in the bike rack, but keep in mind that the school cannot guarantee the security of the bicycles.
NO SKATEBOARDS, ROLLERBLADES OR SCOOTERS ARE ALLOWED AT SCHOOL AT ANYTIME.
Cell Phones/Valuables
Students may bring cell phones/electronic devices to school, but they are to be kept in their backpack out of sight and turned off throughout the school day (including lunchtime).
Students may use their cell phones after school. If a parent needs to contact a student in the case of an emergency during school hours, they must call the main office and the student will be contacted. If students need to make a phone call after school and do not have a cell phone, they will need to use the pay phone. Office phones are not for student use.
If a student has one of these items visible at school, it will be confiscated and returned only to the parent/guardian.
Electronic devices are among the most lost, stolen and broken items belonging to students. We discourage students from bringing electronic devices to school. Laser pointers are not allowed at school.
Dale Junior High School is NOT responsible for lost, stolen or broken items. We will NOT INVESTIGATE the theft of these items for students who bring these items to school.
Lost and Found
Lost and found items are taken to the ICE room. Periodically, we donate the items left in the ICE room lost and found to local shelters. If you lose something, please be sure to check with the ICE room immediately.
Closed Campus
Dale is a closed campus. This means that visitors must check in at the main office for permission to be on school grounds and wear a visitor’s pass. We encourage spectators for sporting competitions and school performances. Spectators are not allowed on campus to watch practices.
Homework Club & Computer Lab
Students may get assistance with their homework in the Homework Club. Adult tutors are there daily to assist students with their homework from 2:30pm – 3:30pm in the library/media center.
The computer lab is open most days from 2:30 – 3:30 for students who need to use a computer to complete classwork.
Athletics
Eligibility – Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA during the prior grading period to be on the tournament teams. Students administratively transferred to Dale may not participate on the tournament teams.
Getting Involved On Campus
Dale offers a number of clubs and organizations for students to be involved with. In addition to athletics and elective classes, students may participate in Disney Ice (Ice Skating), Club Live, Game Club, Bible Club, Math 500, Science 500, Foreign Language 500, Academic Pentathlon, ASB, Book Busters, Bowling Club, Computer Club, Keyboarding Club, Card-making, Jewelry-making, and many others. (Club offerings change each year.) We encourage you to join a club or start your own with a teacher advisor.
Required School Materials
Students are required to have this student planner, their ID card and paper, a pencil, pens and a 2 inch 3-ring binder with 8 labeled dividers with them daily in a backpack. Students may not draw on their student planner, backpack or 3-ring binder. Dale students have ROAR (Read Often And Relax) everyday. Students must have a book for pleasure reading with them to read during ROAR.
Students must dress out for PE in Dale PE clothes. PE clothes will be sold during PE during the first two weeks of school.
Students must bring tennis shoes and socks from home to wear during PE. Shoes must be securely tied during PE. Untied or loosely tied shoes are not allowed due to the risk of injury. All clothing must be appropriately marked with the student’s name.
See individual teachers for added class requirements for materials (ex. Colored pencils, highlighters, etc.)
Permanent Sharpie type pens are not allowed at school. Textbooks
Students are responsible for all textbooks issued to them by the school district. Textbooks must be returned in good condition when the course is completed or the student moves. Lost, stolen, or misplaced textbooks must be paid for by the student. If they are later found, the replacement cost is refunded. The average textbook costs $75.
